BEHIND THE MUSIC

Option Ego was conceived in Oklahoma in November 2021 by a lifelong musician raised in a deeply musical Oklahoma family. Classically trained from an early age, he began piano lessons at six, studied voice for years, and later attended the University of Oklahoma on a vocal scholarship. While at OU, he fronted the bands SURE and 25Kay, becoming a fixture in the Norman and Oklahoma City music scenes before being signed to record his first studio album in Nashville and tour nationally.
His career later took him to the East Coast as the lead singer of New Jersey-based band Woodfish, where he performed at iconic venues including CBGB’s and The Stone Pony, earned multiple awards, and received a Top Male Vocalist nomination at the 2006 Asbury Park Music Awards. After relocating to Denver, he joined Black Postcards, completing the album Shadowbox and performing extensively across Colorado. He has continued to write and record music virtually with longtime collaborator Adam Brinkman under the indie project Royal Antlers.
After returning to Oklahoma in 2018, the pandemic sparked the creation of Option Ego—an alter ego designed as both creative escape and satire. Writing, performing, and producing every aspect of the project himself, Option Ego blends sharp humor with danceable, anthemic music. Since debuting, Ego has released three studio albums, with his song My Pleasure receiving a nod as #25 on the Top Oklahoma Artist Songs of 2025.
In 2025, Option Ego wrote and performed an original musical at Resonant Head, further expanding the project beyond traditional live shows. Though he performs live sparingly, Ego has headlined festivals and venues including Resonant Head and OKC’s historic Blue Note, opened for Twista at The Criterion, and built a loyal fanbase known as the Egomaniacs.
Rumor has it Option Ego is currently planning a major show for 2026. When Ego appears, it’s never just a concert—it’s a spectacle.
This is an act. If you’re offended, congratulations—you’re part of the joke.
